This isn't a polished origin story. It's just what actually happened and why it led to F*ck The Standard.
I grew up blue collar. That means you learn early that work is the answer to everything. You put your head down, you grind, you don't complain. I took that and ran with it through college baseball, then into twenty years as a sports official. Rules, structure, discipline. I was good at all of it.
The problem wasn't that I couldn't execute. The problem was that I was executing someone else's game plan. The job, the lifestyle, the whole framework. I'd inherited it without ever examining it. I thought that's just what you did. You followed the path that was laid out. You kept your head down. You performed.
At some point the performance stops being convincing, even to yourself. I wasn't miserable in a dramatic way. There was no rock bottom, no crisis moment. It was quieter than that — a slow, grinding awareness that the life I was living didn't fit. Not because I'd failed at it. Because it was never mine to begin with.
That's where FTS came from. Not anger. Not some dramatic break from everything. Just an honest reckoning that the script I'd been following was written for someone else, and a decision to stop pretending otherwise.
I'm not a guru. I don't have a system you can buy. What I have is real experience, twenty years of watching how the game is played, and what it costs people who play it without ever questioning the rules.
The podcast is built on that. Every guest has a version of the same story; a belief they were carrying, what it cost them, what happened when they let it go. The book pushes on the same thing from a different angle. Everything here comes back to one question: whose life are you actually living?
If the answer makes you uncomfortable, good. That's where the work starts.
Get in TouchEvery bad decision you've made is downstream of a belief you never examined. Fix the belief and the behavior follows. Ignore it and you're just rearranging deck chairs on a sinking ship.
Not a moral problem. A math problem. Every excuse you keep defending is a choice to stay exactly where you are. Own that. Then decide if the cost is worth it.
Someone handed you a story about who you are and what you're allowed to have. Most people carry it their whole lives without ever questioning where it came from. That's where everything goes wrong.
The ethic that gets you through a twelve-hour shift is the same one that builds something real. You don't skip steps. You don't hack the fundamentals. You show up and you work.
It's about asking who the hell said you had to do it this way — and being honest about the answer. Some of what you dismantle deserved to go. Some you'll want to keep. That's the process.
Not the car. Not the title. Not the follower count. Sleeping without debt crushing your chest. Walking through life without needing to prove something to people who wouldn't show up to your funeral.
The podcast is the conversation. The books are the work. Both point at the same thing: helping people stop running someone else's race.
Conversations with people who walked away from the standard and built something real. No coaches selling courses. No speakers with a keynote to promote. Just people with an actual story and the honesty to tell it straight. Season 2 OUT NOW!!
Listen on Spotify →The book. A direct confrontation with the beliefs keeping you inside someone else's story, how to own your shit and rewrite your story. Not a feel-good read. A push. Available on Amazon now.
Get the Book →Book two. Destruction without reconstruction is just chaos. This one is about the rebuild, what it actually looks like to build something real after you've burned the old script down.
Not a bio. Not talking points from a publicist. A belief you were carrying, what it cost you, and what changed when you let it go. That's the conversation FTS is built for.
I'm not looking for polished speakers. I'm looking for people with something real to say. If that's you, apply.
Summer hiatus. Booking opens back up in September. Applications are open now.
"FTS exists for people who are tired of being inspired and ready for belief disruption — not a mindset shift, a demolition of the lies you stopped questioning."
